Pelletier Book-Ends 2021 Season With Demolition Victory!

Billy Pelletier (#333) started the 2021 season winning the Easter Bunny Bash – eight months later, he found his way back to victory lane by scoring the win in Santa’s Sleigh Smashing Demolition to wrap up the 2021 season. Pelletier survived perseverance from Demolition legend Stephane Savoie (#47) in what may have been Savoie’s final career Demolition to claim the victory. Savoie would end up second, while Shawn Sisk hopped in the #311 car and managed to take the final podium spot. Twelve of sixteen cars in attendance started the final Demo.

After coming up short in his bid to defend his 2020 Demolition championship, Mitch Brideau (#22) had a stellar day scoring a trio of checkered flags and adding to his preliminary wins total. With wins in the Back-Up, Kidney, and Figure 8 races, Brideau will end 2021 with 8 preliminary victories – adding up to a total of 15 wins after notching 7 checkered flags en route to his championship one year ago,

The rollover count for 2021 nearly doubled despite the smaller field size. Wayne Chiasson Bulger (#91) ended up on his roof in turn 2 of the Back-Up race after being hit by Jacob Smith (#29) who turned around and drove forwards triggering the wreck. Smith would be penalized for the incident being disqualified for the remainder of the day. Just a few minutes later, Bomber division Rookie of the Year Dylan Doucet (#02) would end up on his side on the opening lap of the Kidney race after a multi-car melee near the center of the “X”.

Britney Comeau (#02) outran the most recent Powder Puff winner and Speedway 660’s Sportsman champion Alexandra O’Blenis (#69) to earn her first career Powder Puff victory in the 5-lap race.

Danny Chiasson (#70) picked up his first checkered flag in the 8-lap Dash for Cash to start the day. Chiasson took the lead early and led all the way to the finish to claim the victory.

Timmy Blakely (#69) was the overall winner in a dramatic Bomber feature, marking the second year in a row Blakely won the final race of the season. After the feature event was extended to twin 25-lap features with the first segment finish being inverted to set the field for the main event, Blakely would start towards the back of the field finishing runner-up to Blake Bransfield (#60) in the first half after a spirited battle. Bransfield and Blakely worked their way through the field, while rookie Axten MacLean (#13) took the lead and pulled away, taking advantage of misfortune from the first 25 laps, where MacLean’s hood popped up forcing him to the pits. MacLean led the first 21 laps of the final race, but as the race progressed, Bransfield and Blakely closed in on his bumper.

With just a few laps remaining, contact from Bransfield would send MacLean into a spin in turns 1 and 2, drawing the yellow flag. With the tap out rule in effect, Bransfield would again start at the rear while MacLean retained the lead. However, Timmy Blakely capitalized on the restart to drive away to the victory. Riley Connell (#43) used the final sprint to vault himself to a career best runner-up finish, while Bransfield rebounded to claim the final podium spot as MacLean settled for fourth.

Blakely and Bransfield won the 10-lap heat races. Eight cars were in attendance.

Alex Duguay won his third consecutive burnout competition with the most applause.

This officially wraps up the on-track portion of the 2021 season at Speedway Miramichi. Barry Richard and team thanks all drivers and fans for their support in the 2021 season and look forward to an even bigger and better 2022 season!
