Feeling 2022 - Speedway Miramichi's Schedule Is Here!
Start filling in those blank spaces on your calendar! Big things are on tap for the 2022 season at Speedway Miramichi, and today management is proud to unveil the tentative schedule of events for the historic Northern New Brunswick facility. Fans will get to witness sparks fly at ten events spread over nine weekends from May to October during what will be the 54th year of existence for Northern New Brunswick’s Home for Motorsports!
An expanded events schedule for the upcoming season features a mix of prestigious events, returning favorites, and some additional events for stock car racing divisions as management continues to build upon the growth seen in recent years. The broadened schedule will give drivers even more opportunity to live out their wildest dreams chasing wins, or maybe pick some bad blood with fellow competitors.
“After the great success of last year, we wanted to expand and offer more great events this upcoming season. With racing classes building with all the great local talent, we are adding some race nights only to grow the fan base. I look forward to 2022 and all it has in store for us at Speedway Miramichi,” owner Barry Richard said.
Holding the title of Canada’s Demolition Capital, Demolition events will once again thrill fans with the wild and crazy excitement that can only be produced at Speedway Miramichi. Seven Demolition events are scheduled, serving up plenty of doses of thrills. Over 125 fearless competitors took part in Demolition events in 2021 at Speedway Miramichi, and even more are expected to battle in the upcoming season. Tyler Chamberlain enters as the reigning Demolition champion.
Bomber and Mini Stock competitors see their season expanded to 10 events after successful years in 2021. Eight of then ten events will be championship points races, with the non-points event at The Very Best Fall Shootout Kick-Off returning along with the end of the year Outlaw race to round out the schedule. Champions will be crowned on a super Saturday at The Very Best Fall Shootout on October 1st. Mark Kingston (Bomber) and JR Lawson / James Matchett (Mini Stock) claimed track championships in 2021.
Street Stock and Atlantic Modified Tour drivers are expected to contest five events each at Speedway Miramichi, with plans for each division to crown an overall track champion in 2022, in addition to the overall Atlantic Modified Tour championship and the Maritime Street Stock championship. Some dates for these divisions are still being finalized, and the schedule will be updated with their respective dates when announced as tracks continue to work together on scheduling.
Three major marquee events headline the 2022 calendar. The biggest and most prestigious event of them all is The Very Best Fall Shootout, being held over 2 days on Friday September 30th and Saturday October 1st. The 6th Annual Street Stock 100 will co-headline the show along with the Demolition Blowout on Saturday – the day where track champions will be crowned. After a successful introduction in 2021, the Kick-Off show on Friday night will return featuring exhibition races for the Mini Stock and Bomber divisions, with more excitement to be announced.
Back by popular demand after a successful launch in 2021 is the Figure 8 Trailer Race! A huge hit amongst all, this event is part of The Day of 8’s, which will shift back one weekend from the Father’s Day weekend to accommodate events being held at nearby tracks, with the date being Saturday June 25th. This event was a sell-out in 2021, and will be even bigger in 2022!
The third marquee event is the Bomber Firecracker 50 as part of Firecracker Night! The Firecracker 50 tradition came back in a big way last year, etching another chapter of history for Eastern Canada’s Oldest Active Motorsports Venue! From a Sportsman race in the 1990’s to a Bomber race in the 2020’s, the prestige this event carries for the competitors in the “Rock ‘em, Sock ‘em, travelling sideways thrill show” cannot be understated! Throw in the Firecracker Demolition and the annual fireworks display, and this event is always a crowd favorite!
An intriguing part of Speedway Miramichi is the uniqueness each race carries, with each event being special in its own right. A great example is the popular Kid’s Day as part of the Back to School Smash which returns on September 10th! While the Back to School Smash will be one of the final events, it will be the Spring Smash giving first day of school vibes as the season opener on Saturday May 28th! The Crash for Cash Demolition is another big show that is always a hit, and it will be contested on August 20th. The Halloween Spooktacular will wrap up the season on October 22nd along with “Outlaw” style stock car races.
A pair of mid-summer stock car spotlight shows will bring good old fashioned Saturday night short track racing back to Miramichi! With later starts and only stock car divisions, fans will want to circle July 2nd and August 6th as nights to come enjoy discounted grandstand admission prices while watching the hometown heroes of Miramichi’s stock car divisions duel under the lights! It will be a deviation from the style of events hosted in recent years, with no Demolition events on the card. This was made possible thanks to the recent growth being experienced in the stock car divisions in Northern New Brunswick!
In all, 2022 will feature one of the most ambitious schedules of the modern era at Speedway Miramichi – but it is sure to be one of the most exciting. The full schedule is also available on the "schedule" page of our website!
Drivers and fans are reminded of the special season pass sale currently ongoing! A limited quantity of 100 passes are available and they have been selling fast at the discounted price of $120! With nine weekends of action on tap, you will want to get your season pass Season passes are valid for grandstand admission but can be upgraded at each event by paying the upgrade fee at the pit booth – making this a great money-saving gift idea for drivers and crew members!
Of note – planning for the 2021 banquet is underway with a date expected to be announced early in the new year!
