Demolition Blowout To Wrap Up 2019 Season

Saturday presents one last kick at the can for the competitors in the Demolition class at Speedway Miramichi, with the year-end Demolition Blowout being contested as part of The Very Best Fall Shootout! A six-pack of demolition events will be contested following the completion of the Street Stock 100 and all stock car racing! The stock car racing portion of the card will go green at 2pm, with pit gates opening at 10am and grandstands opening at 1pm.

With Kevin Tucker (#87) being officially crowned as track champion for the Demolition class during the Back to School Smash in September, there is nothing on the line at the Demolition Blowout other than winning. Tucker will lead the upwards of 2 dozen Demolition competitors expected to compete on Saturday, after a 2019 season where he absolutely dominated the competition.

With a list of entries like what’s shaping up for this race, it’s virtually impossible to pick a favorite to win the Demolition Blowout, but Back to School Smash winner Riley Harris (#1) has to come to mind. Harris is a fan favorite and was unstoppable en route to his September victory. Also not to be counted out is 2018 Demolition champion Joey Pitre (#20), who wrapped up his 2019 season with a 2nd place points effort, after a great season that saw him win the Spring Smash Demo in May. Young driver Jacob Smith (#29) also recorded a pair of victories, taking home the Kids Day Demo and the Day of 8’s Demo en-route to a top 3 points placing. 2-time Speedway Miramichi Demolition champion Jean-Francois Basque (#21), better known as the “one handed bandit,” has also indicated he will be in attendance for the Demolition Blowout!

Several veteran drivers will look to use their experience to steal the show on Saturday. Chris Sickles (#03) hopes to improve on his runner-up performance in September, while Adam Plourde (#52) has been on fire since his return to action this year. Marc-Andre Benoit (#81) scaled back this season after nearly winning the 2018 championship, and he looks to improve on his podium performance in August. Dieppe’s Norm Robichaud (#666) has been impressive in 2019, finishing 7th in points after missing the first couple of events. Mathieu Brideau (#99) sat the past few Demos out after a strong start to the year, but he is expected to be back behind the wheel for the year end Demolition Blowout. Jonathan LeClair (#10) and Remi Rouselle (#10x) have also signalled intentions to compete.

A growing youth movement continues to flood the demolition class, with Pitre and Smith being among the young talents that have made noise. Another young driver is teenager Alexander MacIntosh (#17), who in his first full season scored a top 5 points finish, along with a podium in July. Colby Buggie (#738) also had a breakout season, as he wrapped up the year with a 4th place finish in points, after nearly winning the Back to School Smash Demo. Sam Jardine (#12) has also shown that she is one of the fastest girls in town in 2019, as she has turned heads in Demolition competition.

Several drivers have indicated they plan to make their first starts of the 2019 season during the Demolition Blowout, led by McLaughlin Roof Trusses Pro Stock 250 champion Ashton Tucker. Tucker will be pulling double duty on Saturday, as he also has a Modified ride lined up for that class’s 35 lap feature. Quentin Thompson (#414) has a car almost ready to go for Saturday, for what will be his first demo. Dylan Esty and Darien Porter have both also indicated they will have a car on track for the Demolition Blowout.

The Demolition Blowout will be the grand finale to the full card of Demolition action. Fan favorites races in the Dash for Cash and the Figure 8 Race will each be contested for 8 laps, while the Back-Up race and the Kidney Heat race will go green for 5 laps. As always, the Powder Puff race will be contested. In September, one of the biggest Powder Puff fields ever took to the track, with 9 ladies turning laps for the 5-lap show. Hopefully that field will only grow on Saturday. The popular burnout competition will also be held prior to the final demo!

The Demolition Blowout is just part of the 2019 season finale at Speedway Miramichi, “The Very Best Fall Shootout.” This event will also feature a 100 lap Street Stock feature, a 50 lap Mini Stock feature, and a 35 lap Atlantic Modified Tour feature! All 2019 stock car champions will also be crowned during this event!

The green flag for The Very Best Fall Shootout will be waved at 2pm on Saturday, with pit gates opening at 10am, and grandstand gates at 1pm. Admission for adults is $15, while youth ages 8 to 17 and seniors can be admitted for just $10! All kids ages 7 and under are free, while the popular family pass can admit a family of 4 for just $35, plus $2 per additional child. Pit admission is $20, and is restricted to those aged 18 and over, and youth 8 to 17 years of age with the requirement of a signed parental waiver form being necessary to enter the pits.

Drivers and fans will also be treated to a special Friday kick-off. There will be an open practice from 4pm to 8pm, followed up by a pit party with live entertainment by Sam Flieger! Admission is $10 per person and that covers both the practice and party afterwards.

Laps also remain on sale for the Street Stock 100! Purchasing a lap is an affordable way to sponsor the track and get your name out! Laps are $25 each and go to the leader of that lap! Message Doug Matchett (douglas.matchett@hotmail.com) to purchase your laps today!
