The "Very Best" Saved for Speedway Miramichi Finale

Atlantic Canada’s best will make their way to Speedway Miramichi for the annual running of “The Very Best Fall Shootout” on Saturday October 3rd! Headlined by the 4th Annual Street Stock 100, the event will also see a 50-lap Mini Stock feature, the Keswick Kitchen Season Finale for the Atlantic Modified Tour, and a 30-lap feature for the Bomber division! The year-end Demolition Blowout will wrap up the night, with 2020 (COVID) points champions being crowned in all divisions! Start time for the action is 2pm.

The Street Stock 100 is shaping up to be a battle of Miramichi versus the Maritimes. Defending race winner Justin Cole (#38) leads the charge of drivers heading to Miramichi, as he looks to become the first two-time winner of the event. Shawn Hyslop (#99) finished runner-up to Cole in 2019, and he will return seeking to avenge last years defeat. The past 2 running’s have been won by the previous years runner-up, a stat which favours Hyslop on Saturday. Fourth-generation driver Riley Goodwin (#77) was on the podium in 2017 and has been one of the top drivers of 2020, earning three feature victories. A win in Miramichi would be very meaningful for Goodwin, who’s family raced in Miramichi for many years. Multi-time Scotia Speedworld Truck champion Dan Smith (#39) finished on the podium in 2018 and will return to try and take the win and trophy to Nova Scotia. Tristin Harris (#7) and Christian Savoie (#25) each earned their first career podiums in the Street Stock division at Speedway Miramichi earlier this summer, and they now seek to make their first starts in the 100-lapper, while Shane Prestidge (#33) will make his Street Stock debut on Saturday.

Miramichi will be well-represented by a tough contingent of local talent. Defending track champion Chris Wilson (#2W) and James Matchett (#55) will be two of the top local contenders, with both drivers being hot off top 5 finishes at the Ricky Bobby 150. Wilson has three feature victories in Street Stock competition at Speedway Miramichi in 2020, while Matchett earned a feature victory in his lone start thus far. Neither driver has run a full schedule and thus are not competing for the points championship, but there are several drivers in the midst of that fight. Darcy O’Neill (#68) earned his first podium of the season in September, which vaulted him into a narrow point lead. O’Neill has shown speed all summer, but new car glitches plagued the early part of his campaign. He will look to breakthrough into victory lane on Saturday. O’Neill is being chased by Bryar Ellis (#95), who has three podium finishes in 2020 and one season ago drove his way to a top 5 finish in the 100-lapper. Jamie Jardine (#10) earned his first career podium in August and now looks to use the finale to steal a championship, while five-time track champion Robert Legere (#04) is still in the hunt looking for what would be a record sixth track title. Jared Tozer (#51) is also expected to be amongst the tough field of cars doing battle on Saturday.

Drivers will have to qualify through heat races, with the deck being shuffled in the new pole shuffle, which replaces the pole race. This gives all drivers an equal opportunity at the pole position in the main event. Big money will compliment the big trophies up for grabs, with first place paying $1000! Throw in $1000 in lap money plus contingency awards, and the winner could leave the track with over $2200!

4th Annual Street Stock 100 Entry List – Subject to Change without Notice

Robert Legere #04 Chris Wilson #2W Tristin Harris #7 Jamie Jardine #10 Christian Savoie #25 Shane Prestidge #33 Justin Cole #38 Dan Smith #39 Jared Tozer #51 James Matchett #55 Darcy O’Neill #68 Riley Goodwin #77 Bryar Ellis #95 Shawn Hyslop #99

A 50-lap Mini Stock feature will be another highlight of The Very Best Fall Shootout! JR Lawson (#81) has won this race the past 2 seasons and is currently in the midst of an 11-race winning streak. Lawson is expected to be challenged by a number of Atlantic Canada’s best Mini Stock drivers while he attempts to earn a 3rd career Speedway Miramichi track championship. While no official entry has been filed, Dave Matthews (#99) is expected to try and defeat Lawson after finishing runner-up the past two Octobers. Matthews is recognized as one of the top talents in the Maritimes and has been itching to break into victory lane at Speedway Miramichi. Lawsons’ own teammate Chantel Ackles (#30) has challenged Lawson on numerous occasions but is yet to seal the deal. Feature winner at Petty International Raceway from earlier in the season Ryan McKnight (#46) will make the trip North, while Scotia Speedworld Thunder driver Jason Pickles (#15) will head to Miramichi for the first time. A number of Sharp Shooter drivers from Speedway 660 are also expected, including Maggie Suttie (#41), Randy Titus (#75), Jeff Rose (#01) and Daniel Atyeo (#15).

Mathieu Mallet (#80) has led the charge of local talent in 2020. Mallet has 4 podium finishes in 2020 and sits third in points, within striking distance of the leaders. He stayed on Lawson’s back bumper for much of the 81-lap Mini Stock Classic in September, and would love to break Lawson’s streak and earn his first career win. Mitchell Poirier (#28) and Conrad Murphy (#89) sit inside the top 5 of points and both have been running well all season. Guy Basque (#27) suffered some engine issues this year but is looking to rebound, while rookies Tyler Lannan-McLeod (#24) and Grayson Dutcher (#55) look to cap off their seasons on a high note. Calvin McLeod (#00) made his return to racing last race, and is looking to find more improvements out of his new car!

A headline of 2020 has been the success of the new Bombers division at the Speedway, and the debut season comes to a thrilling conclusion with a 30-lap feature. The two most recent feature winners will battle it out to the checkered flag for the championship. Adam Plourde (#52) narrowly leads Johnathan Dickson (#3) by 6 points. Plourde and Dickson have finished first and second in the last two features with the drivers splitting the victories. A battle this close means anything can happen and the title is anyone’s’ to win!

Not far behind is a heated battle for third in points. Kevin Tucker (#87) leads the way with the strength of a heat win last race, with September podium finisher Mike Burns (#28) and Riley Harris (#1) all chasing him, all separated by 1 point each. Just a few points behind them is Dawson Cripps (#25) rounding out a four-car battle for the final podium position in points. A number of drivers hope to play spoiler for the win on Saturday, with the biggest field of cars yet expected. Among the expected entries are Casey Munn (#8), Samantha Blakely (#69), Timmy Blakely (#96), Jordan Campbell (#68), Mark Kingston (#97) Ben Jardine (#76) and Kevin Cowie (#2).

The Atlantic Modified Tour will wrap up their shortened 2020 season with the Keswick Kitchen Season Finale. Multi-time Speedway Miramichi Sportsman Champion Yves McCray (#58) enters as the points leader on the tour, over local talent including Travis Conroy (#7), Zean Dutcher (#55) and Braxton Stafford (#91). Minto driver Kevin Bailey (#2) also finds himself in the mix for the championship. Bailey was runner-up a few weeks ago when the Modifieds rolled into Miramichi. That day, it was defending Speedway Miramichi Champion Joe Hoyt (#17) driving to victory lane. Kim Hallihan (#97) will be looking to find some luck after showing speed in 2020, as will be Steven Curtis (#12) as he aims to wrap up 2020 on a high note. Brandon Skidmore (#84) has had a dismal 2020, but hopes he will find a bright spot and one of his favorite tracks. Meanwhile, former Mini Stock winner Michael Savoie (#00) will make his AMT debut on Saturday.

The Demolition Blowout is expected to be an exciting show, with upwards of 40 to 50 cars expected to compete. A full Demolition Blowout preview will be published tomorrow!
