Spring Smash Postponed to Sunday May 29th

Speedway Miramichi management is announcing the postponement of the Spring Smash Demolition. Efforts to contest this event are now shifting to Sunday May 29th as opposed to the originally scheduled date of Saturday May 28th. Start time will remain at 2pm.

Given the various circumstances surrounding this weekend, management felt there was no way to justify attempting to race on Saturday, and therefore have decided to give early notice to our loyal fans and competitors to adjust their travel schedules and weekend plans.

Weather forecasts have consistently shown all week a significant amount of rain impacting Northern New Brunswick starting late in the day Thursday, and continuing through to late in the day Saturday. Meanwhile, Sunday’s forecast looks much more promising giving optimism of being able to get the show in this weekend.

The weather is not the only circumstance influencing this decision – many in the Miramichi area have been affected by a recent tragedy. With staff, drivers, and fans being impacted, and services being held on Saturday, making this decision to postpone is the respectful decision and also provides the opportunity for staff and drivers to attend. Some things are bigger than the sport, and this is one of those cases. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the McFarlane family and all those who knew Evan.

As always, we encourage our drivers and fans to stay tuned to our social media pages and website. Should any further updates regarding this event be required, you will find all that information there. Updated race formats and information will be posted shortly.

Let’s cross our fingers we are blessed with a beautiful day on Sunday. It’s been a long winter and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the track, even if it’s one day later than scheduled.
