Maritime Street Stock Series Returns in 2022!
Five Eastern Canadian race tracks have come together to once again host the Maritime Street Stock Series. Between the quintet of paved ovals, they will host five 100-lap Street Stock events, one at each venue, with the top five in overall points receiving cash bonuses at the end of the season. The champion will receive a custom trophy and $1,000 for their efforts throughout the Series.
All aspects of each event will be overseen by their respective race track with championship points being tallied. A point fund has been established between the five tracks involved with the top five in points receiving bonus money on top of any single event purses from the races. The Maritime Street Stock Series champion will receive $1000, second place will take home $850, third place in points will earn $750, fourth place will pocket $625 and fifth will earn $525. In total, the top five championship point purse for the Maritime Street Stock Series is worth $3,750 on top of any individual race payouts. Any additional prizes and marketing partner announcements for the Series will be announced as they become available.
The Maritime Street Stock Series rolls off with two of the five events in the first two weeks of June. Petty International Raceway kicks off the year with the Old Fashion Meat Market 100 on Saturday, June 4th. As fits well with the date, the race will pay the winner $4,000 to win with $250 minimum to each starter in the event. The Street Stocks will race on the same night as the return of the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour to the high banked bullring with the Old Fashion Meat Market Street Stock 100 to follow the Pro Stock 150 that night. In 2021, Brad MacLean (Black River, NB) was the winner of the Maritime Street Stock Series race at Petty Raceway.
The next week, the Series moves to Speedway 660 in Geary, New Brunswick for the Saturday, June 11th running of the Targett’s Windows and Doors Street Stock 100. The winner of the race will pocket a cool $1,000. Eventual Series champion Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) topped a field of 19 Street Stockers en route to the win in the Maritime Street Stock Series race at Speedway 660 last August.
The Maritime Street Stock Series returns to Southeast New Brunswick on Sunday, July 17th to the CENTRE For Speed. Located in the shadows of Shediac, New Brunswick, the track hosted the inaugural event in the Series in 2021. The race featured a great battle throughout but ultimately it was Cormier’s No. 68 that captured the checkered flag at his home track. This year, the track will play a pivotal part in the Series as it will mark the halfway point in the chase for the championship.
From there, the Series races across the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island for a second annual late August trip to Oyster Bed Speedway. A favorite amongst competitors, this race in 2021 ran caution free and saw a popular win for Turtle Creek, New Brunswick’s Jim Tingley. Tingley emerged late in the race as the winner, passing Cormier in the waning laps and pulling away for his biggest win of the season. The 100-lap, $1,000-to-win feature in 2022 will take place on Saturday, August 27th at the Oyster Bed Bridge, PE track.
The Maritime Street Stock Series champion will be crowned at Speedway Miramichi during The Very Best Fall Shootout. Billed as one of the top grassroots racing events in the Maritimes, the Sixth Annual Street Stock 100 highlights the two day show with the Series finale taking place on Saturday, October 1st. The 100-lap feature will pay a minimum of $1000 to win and $100 to start plus contingency money. Purse additions are to be announced as the event draws closer. Logan Power (Riverview, NB) has won the past two October Street Stock races in Miramichi, New Brunswick.

In 2021, Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB) was the winner of the inaugural championship after capturing two of the first three events in the Series. Oyster Bed winner Jim Tingley was second, followed by Kenny MacKenzie Jr (Salisbury, NB), Drew Lewis (Salisbury, NB) and James Matchett (Miramichi, NB). The five New Brunswick drivers shared in the $3,750 purse while Cormier received a custom trophy for his season long victory.
