FAST RECAP: Spring Smash

Julien Benoit (#47) claimed the biggest Demolition win of his career at the Spring Smash on Sunday at Speedway Miramichi. Benoit outlasted nearly 40 cars to claim the $1500 grand prize, besting Stephane Poirier (#01) and Jeremy Faulds (#11).

Ricky Boudreau had a stellar day earning two preliminary wins – taking down the win in both the Figure 8 race and Kidney Race. Jean-Francois Basque (#21) won the Dash for Cash.

Chantal Lanteigne (#44) took the lead and the win in a 4-wide photo finish for the 10-lap Powder Puff race, one of the wildest finishes of the day. Norm Robichaud (#666) nabbed the Back-Up race win, only to crash while completing an extra lap!

Defending Speedway Miramichi Modified champion Chris Wilson (#2W) dominated the Blackville Auto Value 35 for the Atlantic Modified Tour to take the victory. Yves McCray (#58) edged out Joe Hoyt (#17) at the finish line for the runner-up position in a caution free race. Braxton Stafford (#91) won the 10-lap heat race. Atlantic Modified Tour results are unofficial until released by the tour.

Adam Plourde (#28) outduelled Timmy Blakely (#69) in a heated battle over the final 8 laps to win the first Bomber feature of 2022. Billy Pelletier (#18) came home third for his first career Bomber podium finish. Riley Connell (#43) came in fourth and earned his first career victory claiming the win in the 10-lap heat race. Blakely won the other heat race.

JR Lawson’s (#81) stranglehold on the Mini Stock division continued, as he scored the heat and feature win on Sunday afternoon over Chantel Lawson (#30) and Mitchell Poirier (#28). Poirier edged out Mathieu Mallet (#80) in one of the closest finishes ever seen to win the other heat race.

Chris Sickles was the big winner in the Sickles Showdown Grudge Match, besting both daughters Amber and Krysta.

Johnathan Dickson won the burnout competition.

This was the season opener for Speedway Miramichi and was contested in front of a great crowd! A full recap and official results will be posted on Monday evening.

The next event at Speedway Miramichi is June 25th with The Day of 8’s, featuring the 2nd Annual Figure 8 Trailer Race.
