Expanded Events to Bring Fall Excitement at Speedway Miramichi
October has become a popular and busy month at Speedway Miramichi, and this year it is set to be even bigger and better with the expansion of the McKinnon Road ovals’ marquee event along with a change to one of the most exciting events on the calendar!
In 2021, a special Friday Night Kick-Off will take place as part of The Very Best Fall Shootout, giving grassroots racing divisions the spotlight under the lights! Just a few weeks later, the Bomber “Last Call” race will co-headline the Halloween Spooktacular card for the second year in a row, but this time it is being extended to a 100-lap Endurance race!
Bombers, Mini Stocks Take on Friday Night Lights
Billed as Atlantic Canada’s premiere grassroots racing event, The Very Best Fall Shootout is growing to host 2-days of racing action on October 1st and 2nd. In previous years, Friday night was strictly a practice night, but Speedway Miramichi has decided to take the opportunity to grow the weekend by spotlighting some of the tracks’ grassroots house classes, under the lights!
With the Fall Shootout weekend seeing champions crowned at the historic oval, the Friday night card, which will be a non-point show, will be a crucial test session for Bomber and Mini Stock drivers with each division tentatively running a 35-lap feature. On Saturday, these divisions will join the Atlantic Modified Tour as support divisions for the 5th Annual Street Stock 100 and Demolition Blowout, with champions being crowned during a 30-lap feature for Bombers and a 50-lap feature for Mini Stocks!
The Very Best Fall Shootout Kick-Off will be wrapped up Friday night with an extended Street Stock practice following the completion of the racing card. This track time will be important for drivers, as they prepare for what promises to be a tense race. In addition to the big prizes and big trophies on the line, the race also serves as the points finale for the Speedway Miramichi Street Stock division and the inaugural Maritime Street Stock Series!
The Friday portion of the event will feature discounted grandstand admission, with all tickets being $10 general admission!
“We are excited to build upon the base we have for Atlantic Canada’s premiere grassroots racing event,” said owner Barry Richard. “This kick-off show will be a welcome addition to the weekend as we continue to grow the event, and also allow our stock car drivers to compete under the lights at our facility!”
Bomber “Last Call” Becomes 100-Lap Endurance Race
The Very Best Fall Shootout Street Stock 100 will not be the only 100-lap race in October. The Bomber “Last Call” Finale has been extended into a 100-lap (no intentional contact) Endurance Race! In 2020, the “Last Call” was a thrilling show, and the added intrigue of more laps and the survival factor is sure to make for an interesting race. This race will be part of the Halloween Spooktacular show slated for October 23rd, with standard Bomber building rules being in effect.
The “Last Call” will be split up by a halfway break at lap 50 to allow for tire changes and adjustments. Only green and red flags will apply. This race will be run with a Dash for Cash style, with all drivers paying a to be determined entry fee which will be pooled into winner take-all purse! Being a year-end exhibition race with no points on the line, drivers are sure to leave everything on the track.
The inaugural “Last Call” was one of the most exhilarating races contested in 2020, producing highlights still being talked about – including the thrilling last lap battle between Timmy Blakely and Jacob Smith!
With many tracks having their seasons completed by September, this makes for a perfect opportunity for drivers and fans to take in action in Northern New Brunswick! These changes are sure to make the fall events at the Speedway can’t miss shows!
With the 2021 season just around the corner, fans are encouraged to stay tuned to all Speedway Miramichi social media channels for even more announcements coming along in the near future!
