DUKES RULES
Revised for 2018:
APPROVED MODELS
-
Stock rear wheel drive car; any year or model.
-
May be carbureted or fuel injected.
-
Trucks allowed, including: 1/4 ton S10, 1/4 ton Blazer 1/4 ton Ford Ranger, 1/4 ton Dodge Dakota with carbureted V8 added and 2 wheel drive only.
-
Non sports cars only!
TIRES & RIMS
-
14", 15", 16", 17" Street tires on steel rims, can be summer or winter tires. 60s, 65s, 70s, 75s, 80s, with no alterations.

All four rims must be the same size diameter and width.
-
Maximum 3" backspace. If less than a 3" backspace, the rim is not allowed.
ROLL CAGE
-
H-frame and 3 drivers door bars covered with 1/8" plate is Mandatory. To be mounted to the frame by weld, or bolted with 4 1/2" bolts per mounting point minimum.
-
4 point cage recommended; you are allowed to pipe from the front to the back of the car for your own safety.
-
Make it safe, and make it tough! THE WALL DOES NOT MOVE!
SAFETY GEAR
-
Full face helmet required.
-
Fire-resistant coveralls or Fire Suit is mandatory.
-
Proper gloves and boots are to be worn.
-
A neck collar or Hans Device is highly recommended.
-
A 2.5 lbs fire extinguisher and a main power shut off switch located by drivers door is mandatory.
-
Used/new 10 years and/or newer, 3", 4 or 5 point safety belts are mandatory.
-
Car will be going through tech inspection prior to each event, so make sure your car is safe, has no leaks, and that nothing is falling off.
-
Anything that tech officials want changed, shall be changed prior to racing. Again, MAKE YOUR CAR SAFE!
BODY
-
Body will remain stock appearing, with all steel panels. Plastic nose and tail allowed if needed.
-
All glass and lights are to be removed (except for the windshield).
-
You may replace the windshield with minimum 1/8" lexan, no plexi-glass.
-
Rear break light may remain in back window.
-
Minimum of 2 hood pins and hood latch removed, stock hinges must remain in car.
-
Minimum 2 trunk pins and trunk latch removed, stock trunk hinges must remain.
-
Hood and trunk must be easily accessible in the event of an emergency.
-
Must be a chain or cable for recovery purposes on front and rear bumpers (strong enough to remove car from the track).
-
Engine compartment and trunk compartment sealed off from drivers compartment (all holes in body covered or fixed).
-
You must be safe in the event of a fire!
BRAKES
-
Stock 4-wheel working breaks. All stock components matching the year, make, and model of the vehicle only.
STEERING, CASTER, & CAMBER
-
All stock components matching the year, make, and model of the car/truck only.
-
Castor and camber open rule, do as you wish.
SUSPENSION
-
All stock components matching the year, make, and model of the car/truck only.
-
Shocks must be stock and in factory position (one shock per corner only).
-
Springs can be heated and or shortened. You can use any spring from any factory coil car/truck.(Heavy truck spring recommend for the right front corner).
-
Absolutely no racing or race rated springs, and no height adjusters are permitted.
-
Shims allowed for correcting height (plywood or steel shims, no adjustable shims).
SWAY BAR
-
Stock sway bar for year, make, and model of car/truck.
-
Using factory Sway bar link on the right front, and 1/2" bolt/nut/washer on left front (this is the only adjustment allowed on the front of a Dukes car).
RIDE HEIGHT & WEIGHT
-
6" minimum ride height.
-
Must weigh at least 3600lbs with driver in the car at the beginning of each race.
-
Maximum 53% left side weight, and maximum 45% rear weight.
-
The track holds the right to add weight as seen fit for fair competition.
-
If you are caught cheating in any way you will lose 1% of you left side weight per every illegal infraction (subject to change).
FUEL SYSTEM
-
All stock gas lines must be in good shape or new condition, and kept away from hot areas and pinch points.
-
Fuel cell highly recommended.
-
Factory tanks mounted in the trunk area of the car, and factory tanks mounted in the stock position above the rear end area will be permitted.
-
Factory tanks mounted under the trunk must be moved in to the trunk area as far ahead as possible.

AGAIN, MAKE IT SAFE!
ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, & GEARS
-
All stock only - no power adders, no modifications, stock manifolds, stock breather or air box only, factory carburetors for that model of car (no aftermarket carbs).

All stock fuel injection system no chips or tunes.
-
Must meet vacuum of year make and model of car.
-
Must meet compression of year make and model of car.
-
IF THE VEHICLE COMES CARBURETED, YOU CANNOT MAKE IT FUEL INJECTED.
Built Motor
-
All engine parts must meet OEM specs for that engine and brand.
-
Solid mounts acceptable, provided they conform to OEM specs.
-
Engine must be located in stock position.
-
GM: May run 305 or 350.
-
Ford: May run 302 or 351 Windsor.
-
Mopar: May run 318 or 360 cu in. only with factory production firing order.
-
NO 327 cu.in engines

No solid anti-pump or rod lifters.

Camshaft must have stock duration.

VACUUM 18"@ 800 RPM (THE ENGINE MUST BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE 800 RPM AT IDLE IN PARK WITH NO THROTTLE OR MIXTURE SCREW ASSISTANCE.)

NO standard or 2 speed power glides allowed.

Factory 3 or 4 speed transmissions, unaltered only.

ANY REAR GEAR ALLOWED, LOCKER (WELDED)ALSO ALLOWED (NO POSI OR DETRIOT LOCKERS ALLOWED).
EXHAUST

Stock manifolds.

No headers. \
-
Any size pipe - single or duals allowed.

Must exit behind the drivers compartment away from fuel cell.

NO X PIPING ALLOWED.
COOLING SYSTEM

All stock, must have over flow catch can. Water only!
BATTERY & CHARGING SYSTEM

All stock, battery must be mounted to the frame and covered.
-
A plastic battery box is recommended.

MAIN POWER SWITCH MOUNTED AT DRIVERS DOOR AND MUST SHUT DOWN THE CAR WHEN TURNED TO OFF POSITION! THIS MUST BE MARKED ON/OFF!
WEIGHT

All added weight ballast must be painted white and have the car # marked on them.
DRIVE SHAFT
-
Drive shaft must be painted white with the car # on it.
NUMBERS
-
Big and clear numbers are to be in the following locations: on the roof, both sides of the car in the door area, and on the top right side of the windshield.
