Silliker Wins Demo, Falls Short to Pitre In Title Fight; Skidmore Back On Top In Modified 50!

Trenton Silliker laid it all on the line at the Back to School Smash Saturday night at Speedway Miramichi. Despite missing the past 2 events due to work, Silliker entered the night 3rd in points thanks to his dominance at the May event. At the end of the night, Silliker managed to win the Back to School Smash, but ultimately it wasn’t enough as he ended up coming just a few points short to Joey Pitre. Pitre, who entered the night with a 7-point lead, scored 4 points through the first few demo races, before his car shut down and would not re-fire. Pitre anxiously sat through the rest of the night, knowing his destiny was out of his hands. Luckily, his consistent season earned him enough point

Expect the Unexpected at the Back to School Smash!

Speedway Miramichi finally returns to action this Saturday, with a massive card on tap. Both drivers and fans have been anxiously waiting for this event for over a month and a half now, and it appears all the waiting may be worth it, with one of the biggest car counts in a long time expected on Saturday. The first order of business is the 2018 Demolition points championship; somebody will be crowned champion on Saturday. As it stands now, Joey Pitre holds a mere 7-point lead following the Backwards Bash. At 24 years of age, the 3rd year driver would be one of the youngest Demo champions ever, if he could hang on. But his closest competition is a hungry veteran chasing his first championship.

In today's interview we sit down to talk to a young fan favorite Demo driver, Randy Girouard! Despite being just 20 years of age, Randy has been competing at Speedway Miramichi for 6 years already! Randy has been one of the most successful drivers through that era at the track. In 2017 Randy finished 3rd in points. Heading into the final event of 2018, he sits 4th in points, with a shot at stealing the title by being just 9 points back. A cagey veteran and one of the most recognizable drivers at Speedway Miramichi, Doug Matchett has been turning left for a long time now! Nicknamed Mr. Excitement, Doug has been wheeling his iconic yellow #75 Modified around the track since the mid-2000's. He holds the record for most Modified feature victories at Speedway Miramichi with 4 total!
